The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few minutes.

1. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

1. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and robotvacuummops.uk future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.

1. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map.
